Lieutenant Thomas Vido

Lieutenant Thomas Vido was born and raised in Beaufort County.  He attended Beaufort High School. In 1977, he began working as an arborist for Utilities Construction Company maintaining high voltage lines throughout the state, eventually earning a state supervisory position. In 1986, he switched careers to work as an electrician apprentice before eventually pursuing his lifelong dream of becoming a law enforcement officer. 

In August 1991, that career started with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. He was first assigned to the Southern Enforcement Division. In January 1993, he was promoted to the rank of Patrolman First Class. In April 1995, he was promoted to Corporal and served as assistant shift supervisor. In January 1996, he left the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office to become a conservation officer with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. While serving as a DNR Officer, he carried a dual commission as a Federal Wildlife Officer.  In June 1997, he returned to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office where he was reassigned to the Southern Enforcement Division as a Sergeant.  In January 1999, he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and shift supervisor.  He was then transferred to the Northern Enforcement Division in June 1999. 

In 2006, he was promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant and assigned to the Administrative Division.  In November 2016, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant where he oversees the civil process, warrants, and records departments. Over the span of his career, Lieutenant Vido has attended over 100 seminars and training conferences obtaining over 2,500 class room credited hours, as well as numerous instructor certifications.
