Lieutenant Robert Tuten
Lieutenant Robert Tuten was raised in Ridgeland, SC. After graduating from Thomas Heyward Academy, he attended Wingate College located in Wingate, North Carolina. After attending Wingate College, he then transferred to the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. In 1990, he graduated from the University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.
In 1991, Lieutenant Tuten was hired by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office as a uniformed patrol officer and assigned to the Southern Division. That same year, he graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy with honors. Since that time, Lieutenant Tuten has served in many different facets while employed with the sheriff’s office. He has attended many specialized schools and has acquired multiple instructor certifications.
Lieutenant Tuten in March of 2018 was certified as a South Carolina Emergency Manager, SC CEM, from the South Carolina Emergency Management Association. He is a current member of the Sheriff’s Office “Aviation Support Unit”, which is a collateral duty.
