Lieutenant Robert Tuten

Joined the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office in 1991.
Originally from Ridgeland, S.C.

Lieutenant Robert Tuten is the planning officer for the Emergency Management Division of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, where he is responsible for developing an Incident Action Plan for Natural Disasters and large security events. He also plans and develops training exercises that can include all first-responder agencies in the county. His other duties include overseeing the Traffic Management Center, assisting in firearms training and managing the 1033 Program.

Lieutenant Tuten began his career with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office in 1991 and spent 22 years in patrol and investigations, where he reached the position of Staff Sergeant. In 2013, he was promoted to Master Sergeant and worked in various other positions, including drug investigations, Marine Patrol and Courthouse Security.

From 2000 to 2014, Lieutenant Tuten was a member of the SWAT Team and a SWAT Team Leader from 2007 to 2014. In 2015, he was transferred into the Emergency Management Division, where he was promoted to Lieutenant.
