Lieutenant Chris Sankowski

Joined the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office in 1990.
Originally from Neptune, N.J.

Lieutenant Chris Sankowski serves as Commander of the Beaufort County Violent Crimes Task Force. As commander, he oversees the task force’s mission, which is to apprehend violent offenders and reduce violent crimes within Beaufort County. He is also responsible for managing civil asset forfeitures.

Lieutenant Sankowski began his career in the Southern Enforcement Branch of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and was assigned to patrol Hilton Head Island. In 1993, he was promoted to the Investigative Section of southern Beaufort County, and primarily worked on cases involving crimes committed by juveniles and crimes committed against young children. 

During his tenure with the Sheriff’s Office, he has served as an Investigator of major crimes, supervised the Southern Investigations Section and Southern Patrol Branch, worked on the  Beaufort/Jasper Multi Agency Drug Task Force and supervised security at the Beaufort County Courthouse and School Resource Officers. He was also a certified D.A.R.E. instructor.
