Lieutenant Alan Langford

Lieutenant Alan Langford was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia. After graduating from high school, he attended Armstrong University before moving to Beaufort to join the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office in 1995. He continued his education at the Technical College of the Lowcountry, completing his Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice.

Langford began his career in law enforcement as a patrol deputy, achieving meritorious promotion to Patrol Sergeant for Southern Enforcement Division in 2002. The same year, he took on the collateral responsibility as a member of the Crisis Negotiations Team. 

In 2004, Langford was promoted to Patrol Staff Sergeant, supervising shifts for both Northern and Southern Enforcement. In 2016, he was promoted as the Master Sergeant of the Northern Enforcement Division where he served until his 2019 promotion to Lieutenant of the Support Services Section, where he presently oversees a multitude of public safety information technology and communication applications utilized throughout the County.

Lieutenant Langford currently serves as the Crisis Negotiations Team Leader and as a Firearms and Patrol Rifle instructor. He is a certified Armorer for Glock, AR-15 and Remington firearms.

Throughout his multifaceted career, Lieutenant Langford has remained devoted to family and community service, serving as the PTO President for five years at Robert Smalls International Academy and volunteering for 13 years with the Beaufort Water Festival committee.
