Lieutenant Andres Florencio

Lieutenant Andres F. Florencio was raised in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on September 28th, 1993 and served until 1997. Upon the completion of his enlistment, he received an Honorable Discharge and was hired by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office on October 6th, 1997.

Lieutenant Florencio attended the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and graduated with Honors. He was assigned to the Southern Enforcement Division as a Uniform Patrol Deputy. While working in the Southern Enforcement Division, Lieutenant Florencio routinely assisted fellow Patrol Deputies, Criminal Investigators, Drug Investigators and Federal Agents as a Spanish Translator during various types of calls for service and investigations.  

He was selected and transferred into the Southern Investigations Section as a Criminal Investigator in December of 1999.  As an Investigator, Lieutenant Florencio worked all facets of criminal investigations, he received advanced training and education in many fields associated with criminal and narcotics investigations. Lieutenant Florencio also served on the Beaufort County Special Weapons and Tactics Team as a Perimeter Team member while assigned to the Southern Investigations Section. In July of 2004, Lieutenant Florencio was selected and transferred to the Multi-Agency Drug Task Force as a Drug Investigator. While assigned to the Multi-Agency Drug Task Force, Lieutenant Florencio conducted many successful drug investigations and seizures within both Beaufort County and Jasper County. He was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant in March of 2005 and then selected and promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in November of 2007. Lieutenant Florencio served as a Drug Investigator for a period of almost ten years and supervised Drug Investigators from multiple law enforcement agencies which included: the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, Beaufort Police Department, Bluffton Police Department, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Hardeeville Police Department and Ridgeland Police Department.

In March 2014, he was selected and promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant over the Southern Investigation Section. As the Master Sergeant over the section, he was responsible for directing and supervising the daily operations of the Southern Investigations Section. On April 3rd, 2018, Lieutenant Florencio was promoted to his current rank to serve over the Southern Investigations Section.  He is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising and administration of the daily activities of personnel assigned to the Southern Investigations Section.  He provides managerial guidance and oversight for both criminal investigators and victim’s advocates.
