Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program provides training to Beaufort County residents to increase self-sufficiency in a disaster. Participants learn basic disaster response skills which will enable them to provide emergency assistance to their families and neighbors.
CERT classes are offered free of charge at various times throughout the calendar year. Notices of class registration are sent out to the public via Nixle alerts and local media, as well as the Beaufort County Emergency Management Facebook website.
CERT, available across the United States, offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, which allows them to focus on more complex tasks. There are over 2,700 local CERT programs nationwide.
