Colonel Neil Baxley

Joined the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office in 1983.
Originally from North Carolina.

Colonel Neil Baxley serves as Commander of the Emergency Management Division at the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. He is responsible for Beaufort County’s 9-1-1 phone system, Central Communications Dispatch, Hazardous Material Program and Traffic Management Center. He is also the Aviation Unit Commander for the Sheriff’s Office.

Colonel Baxley joined the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office in July 1983 and was assigned to the Patrol Division. During his career with the Sheriff’s Office, he was assigned the following roles: Training Sergeant (1993), Administrative Division Deputy Commander (1999), Administrative Division Commander (2004) and Deputy Chief of Staff (2010). In 2013, when Sheriff P.J. Tanner was asked by the Beaufort County Administrator to lead Beaufort County’s EMD, he appointed Colonel Baxley as Commander.
