Suspect Arrested for Assault and Battery with Intent to Kill

Glynis Mulligan

Forty-year-old Glynis Mulligan of Seabrook was arrested last night after a dispute with his cousin turned violent.

Just after 6:00 pm last night, deputies responded to 24 Community Center Rd in reference to the assault of 32-year-old Darren Mulligan. Upon arrival, deputies found Darren semi-conscious and bleeding from a head wound.

Witnesses reported that moments earlier, Darren's cousin, Glynis, showed up at the scene where Darren had been hanging out with friends. Glynis approached Darren and began striking Darren repeatedly about the head with what appeared to be a wooden bat.

After assaulting Darren, Glynis got back into his car and left the scene. Glynis drove to a nearby family member's home at 91 Middlefield Cir, and called 911 to report his involvement in the incident.

Deputies made contact with Glynis at the specified address. Glynis admitted to deputies that he had, indeed, assaulted Darren over an ongoing family dispute. Glynis was subsequently placed under arrest for Assault and Battery with Intent to Kill, and was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center where he remains awaiting a bond hearing.

Darren Mulligan was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Details regarding Darren's condition remain undisclosed at this time; however, his injuries are not currently thought to be life-threatening.
