The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burned vehicle found in the area of Muddy Creek Road and Little Garden Path Saturday afternoon.
Just before 5:00 pm on December 15th, deputies along with members of Hilton Head Fire and Rescue responded to a vacant lot adjacent to Little Garden Path in reference to a vehicle fire. The vehicle, a 2005 black in color Pontiac G6, appeared to have been recently set on fire; however, the fire extinguished itself prior to any actions taken by the fire department.
The Pontiac, which had been reported stolen several days earlier, appeared to have been stripped. It was found elevated on cinder blocks with all four tires missing. The dashboard was also found to be damaged and disassembled, and the stereo equipment gone.
The vehicle was stolen not far from where it was recovered. On December 9th, it was reported stolen from Gold Oak Drive by its owners, Mark and Angela Simon. The Simons reported the vehicle stolen after discovering it was missing from their driveway in the early morning hours of December 9th.
Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding the theft and/or arson of the vehicle to please contact Cpl. John Adams at 843-842-4111 ext. 261 or the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at 843-524-2777. |
