Suspects Wanted in Poppy Hill Road Shooting Arrested

Both suspects wanted in connection with the December 3rd shooting incident on Poppy Hill Road have been arrested.

Rasheem Trevell Ray
Dominique Lavell Middleton

Seventeen-year-old Rasheem Trevell Ray and 18-year-old Dominique Lavell Middleton were arrested just after 6:00 pm last night. The suspects were located by deputies who were searching the Poppy Hill Road area for the pair.

Ray and Middleton's charges were a result of an incident that took place Monday afternoon. Just after 3:00 pm on December 3rd, Sheriff's deputies responded to the area of Ihly Road and Poppy Hill Road in reference to three victims reporting that someone shot at them. The victims, two 17-year-old males, and one 16-year-old male juvenile stated they had been traveling together in a black 2008 Ford Crown Victoria, on their way to pick up a friend on Poppy Hill Road.

As the victims approached the area of Ihly Road, they noticed a suspect running towards their vehicle. Suspect, Ray, threw a brick at the vehicle, shattering the back windshield. A second suspect, Middleton, then approached and fired several rounds at the vehicle as it passed.

None of the three occupants of the vehicle sustained any injury during the incident. The vehicle sustained an estimated $600 in damage.

The suspects face the following charges:

  • Ray - Malicious Injury to Property (1 count)
  • Middleton - Assault with Intent to Kill (3 counts)

Both Ray and Middleton remain in the Beaufort County Detention Center awaiting bond hearings.
