The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating home invasion that occurred at a Stuart Point Road residence earlier this afternoon.
At approximately 1:30 pm, Sheriff's deputies responded to the Stuart Point home after the resident reported being robbed at gunpoint by two unknown black male suspects just moments before.
The 62-year-old male victim advised that the suspects entered the home, one armed with a handgun, and demanded money. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim before fleeing the residence on foot, possibly towards the area of Yarrow Road. The victim sustained no injuries during the incident.
Sheriff's deputies searched surrounding areas, assisted by the K-9 Tracking Team, but had no contact with the suspects. The Whale Branch Middle and Elementary Schools were placed on lockdown until a thorough search of the area was completed. All students have since been released from the schools, with buses making their normally scheduled routes.
The suspects are described as possibly being in their late teens to early 20's. One was described as wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, the other as wearing a multi-colored (possibly camouflaged) hooded sweatshirt. Both suspects were also wearing masks concealing their faces.
The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information regarding this incident to please contact Beaufort County Dispatch at 843-524-2777. |
