Fleeing Suspects Caught/Stolen Vehicle Recovered

Two suspects were arrested this morning after leading deputies on a mid-island pursuit.

The incident began just after 7:00 am when a Sheriff's deputy spotted a van traveling on US 278 eastbound that matched the description of one that had been reported stolen from Bluejay Ln. several days earlier. As the deputy turned around to investigate, the driver of the white 2005 Chevrolet Express van immediately pulled into the parking lot of Parkwood Medical Center (839 William Hilton Parkway), exited the van, and fled on foot towards Palmetto Dunes.

Upon confirming that the van was, indeed, the vehicle previously reported stolen, deputies immediately began to search the area for the fleeing suspect, who was described as a black male wearing dark clothing. Sheriff's Office K-9 units assisted in the search, tracking the suspect as he fled through Palmetto Dunes. During the track, the suspect was seen getting into a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck driven by a white female. Deputies repeatedly yelled for the driver of the truck to stop, however, she refused to comply, fleeing the area towards Shelter Cove.

Deputies made contact with the truck on Shelter Cove Lane near Harbor Pointe and conducted a traffic stop, at which time, the black male suspect bailed out of the truck, again fleeing on foot, this time towards the nearby Yacht Cove community. The female driver of the pickup truck, later identified as 36-year-old Crystal Amber Warner, was detained and placed under arrest for Fleeing to Evade Arrest/Detention.

Deputies continued to search for the fleeing male suspect, later identified as 44-year-old James Edward Green. Citizen-reported sightings in the area led deputies to the area of U-Store It (5 Yacht Cove Drive), where Green was located and taken into custody without incident just after 9:00 am.

At this time, Green has been charged with Receiving Stolen Goods and Fleeing to Evade Arrest/Detention. Both Green and Warner were transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center where they will remain awaiting bond hearings.
