Charles Andrew Compton aka "Cappie"

An arrest has been made in an on-going investigation into a child pornography case opened earlier in October.

Eighteen-year-old Charles Andrew Compton (aka "Cappie") was arrested just before 5:00 this evening by Beaufort County Sheriff's Office investigators. Compton turned himself in during a pre-arranged meeting at the main headquarters of the Sheriff's Office.

Compton has been charged with one count of 2nd Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor in reference to an investigation that was launched following an incident on October 16th. On that date, the Sheriff's Office was notified after abandoned property was found at the Beaufort Fun Park that was later discovered to contain pornographic images depicting children.

During the investigation, Compton was linked to the material found at the Fun Park. Subsequent search warrants were executed at his home on Mystic Drive West in Beaufort, which resulted in the issuance of a warrant for his arrest.

Compton was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center where he remains awaiting a bond hearing.
