DTF Investigations Yield 3 Arrests

A series of long-term drug investigations by the Beaufort/Jasper Multi-Agency Drug Task Force (DTF) yielded the arrests of three suspected drug dealers and seizures of two vehicles, a gun, cash, and sizeable quantities of powder cocaine.

Arrests of Willie Webb, III and Robert Drayton:

On November 1st at approximately 5:00 pm, DTF officers arrested 27-year-old Willie Webb, III of Beaufort and 27-year-old Robert Antonio Drayton of Seabrook in the parking lot of the Beaufort Wal-Mart located at the Cross Creek Shopping Center in Beaufort.

The arrests stemmed from an investigation into Webb and his involvement in the sale and distribution of illegal drugs. During the course of the investigation, DTF officers learned that Webb would be delivering approximately 1,000 grams of powder cocaine in a red in color GMC Yukon within the city limits of Beaufort.

On November 1st at approximately 5:00 pm, officers located Webb and Drayton in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Drayton was the driver of 2004 GMC Yukon which transported Webb and the shipment of cocaine to the delivery location.

When officers made contact with the two men, Webb attempted to flee while carrying the 1000 gram shipment of powder cocaine. Webb was quickly apprehended and arrested. Drayton was taken into custody without incident, and was found to have a small amount of cocaine and approximately $1,109 in cash on his person. During a search of the Yukon, a small amount of marijuana and a handgun were found inside.

The drugs, cash, and the vehicle were seized pursuant to SC seizure laws.

Both suspects were transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center on the following charges:

Willie Webb, III:
  • Trafficking Cocaine
  • Trafficking Cocaine within ½ Mile of a School
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Violent Crime
  • Simple Possession of Marijuana

Webb remains in the detention center on a $241,652 bond. 

Robert Antonio Drayton:
  • Trafficking Cocaine
  • Trafficking Cocaine within a ½ Mile of a School
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Violent Crime
  • Simple Possession of Marijuana

Drayton remains in the detention center on a $255,565 bond.

Arrest of Vonnie Lockley:

On November 1st at approximately 8:00 pm, DTF officers arrested 32-year-old Vonnie Barthonia Lockley of Dale at the Burger King located at 2434 Boundary St in Beaufort.

The arrest stemmed from an investigation into Lockley and his involvement in the sale and distribution of illegal drugs. During this investigation, a warrant was obtained for Lockley for Trafficking Cocaine for an incident that took place on October 31 st in the city of Beaufort.

DTF officers made contact with Lockley on November 1st at Burger King and placed him under arrest for the outstanding warrant. At the time of his arrest, Lockley was found to be in possession of an additional 12 grams of cocaine and was subsequently charged with another count of Trafficking Cocaine.

Lockley's 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche was seized as a result of the drug charges. Lockley was transported without incident to the Beaufort County Detention Center where he remains on a $50,000 bond for two counts of Trafficking Cocaine.
