Sheriff’s Office Investigating Armed Robbery on Village Circle in Okatie

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery that occurred off of Village Circle in Okatie Friday night.

At approximately 8:00 pm on October 26th, Sheriff's deputies responded to Sunset Pizzeria in reference to the armed robbery of a delivery driver. The driver, a 16-year-old male, had gone to the area of Village Circle to deliver a pizza and while there, had been robbed.

The pizza order had originally been placed by phone, and was requested for delivery to 51 Village Circle. As the driver neared the area, he called the phone number given when the order was placed for further directions. The driver was instructed to turn down a grassy road leading to Gaston Plantation off of Village Circle.

Upon coming to the end of the road, the driver noticed a group of individuals standing on the porch of a nearby house. The driver got out of his car with the pizza, and was approached by one of the individuals, requesting the amount owed for the pizza. As the driver gave him the total, several more subjects came up from behind him.

The subjects threatened to shoot him and proceeded to go through his pockets, taking wallet which contained an undisclosed amount of cash. The subjects then went through the driver's vehicle, stealing the pizza and miscellaneous personal items.

After being robbed, the driver was allowed to leave, and he immediately returned to the restaurant to report the incident. The driver sustained no injuries during the incident. The driver was only able to provide a limited description of his attackers, stating that it was a group of approximately 6-7 black males. Only one of the suspects was described in any detail; that suspect was described as a black male between the ages of 16-25, weighing between 200-230 lbs with some facial hair.

Deputies canvassed the area of Village Circle and Gaston Plantation, but located no one who reported having witnessed the incident.

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with any information regarding this incident to please contact Beaufort County Dispatch at 843-524-2777.
