Sheriff’s Office Investigating Stabbing in Bluffton

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a stabbing that occurred outside a Bluffton gas station early Sunday morning.

At approximately 2:30 am on October 28th, Sheriff's deputies responded to Hilton Head Regional Medical Center's emergency room in reference to a patient reporting that he had been stabbed in the back in the parking lot of the Kangaroo Express convenience store (1610 Fording Island Road).

Upon arrival, deputies met with 23-year-old Joshua Lanier Orage who recounted being attacked by two unknown white males just before 2:00 am. Orage advised that he had been in the gas station parking lot when he noticed the two male suspects standing at the nearby produce stand. One of the suspects called out, and Orage, assuming they were talking to him, walked over to them.

As Orage approached, the two subjects jumped on him, punching him repeatedly. Orage attempted to fight back, at which time, one of the subjects pulled out an unknown item and stabbed Orage in the back. Both suspects then fled the scene in an unknown direction, leaving Orage lying wounded in the parking lot.

Orage was found moments later in the parking lot by a passer-by who transported him to the hospital. Further details regarding the extent of Orage's injuries remain undisclosed at this time. After gathering information from Orage, Sheriff's deputies returned to the scene of the incident to search the area for evidence and/or Orage's attackers, but had no contact with anyone.

The suspects were described as being two white males, between the ages of 18-21, both being approximately 5'08", 150 lbs. One subject was described as having short blond hair, and wearing a white sleeveless t-shirt. The other suspect was described as wearing a black t-shirt.

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with any information regarding this incident to please contact Beaufort County Dispatch at 843-524-2777.
