The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery occurring outside a bank late Saturday night.
At approximately 10:30 pm on October 20th, Sheriff's deputies responded to the parking lot of Carolina First Bank located at 401 William Hilton Parkway in reference to a report of an armed robbery occurring moments before.
Upon arrival, deputies met with 27-year-old Marin Garcia who advised that he had just been robbed at gunpoint. Garcia pulled into the bank parking lot, leaving his wife and three children in the car while he went to the bank's ATM. After withdrawing an undisclosed amount of cash from the ATM, Garcia proceeded back to his vehicle.
As Garcia neared his vehicle, he was suddenly approached by two unknown black male suspects. The two suspects presented handguns and took Garcia's wallet which contained cash, credit cards, and other personal effects. They then fled on foot in the direction of The Oaks apartment complex across the street.
Deputies secured the surrounding area, and the Sheriff's Office K-9 Tracking Team responded to search for the suspects but had no contact with them. No injuries were sustained by Garcia or any member of his family during the incident.
One of the suspects was described as being tall, of thin build, and wearing a yellow hooded sweatshirt that covered his face. The second suspect was described as being short, of thin build, and also wearing a light blue hooded sweatshirt that concealed his face.
