Five Hilton Head Island High School students were arrested yesterday afternoon in connection with the October 13th burglary at the Country Club of Hilton Head on Hilton Head Plantation.

The suspects: Bryan Josh Kirby (17), Calvin Dante Sunkins (18), Ryan Nolan Sparks (17), Ethan James Barsness (18), and Scott Russell Miller (17) all turned themselves into investigators during a pre-arranged meeting at 2:00 pm at Hilton Head Island High School yesterday. All five suspects have been charged with Burglary, 2nd Degree and Possession of Alcohol by Persons Under Age 21.
The incident leading to the teens arrest occurred in the early morning hours of October 13th. At approximately 12:40 am, video surveillance cameras captured the teens breaking into the snack bar at the Country Club of Hilton Head. The video, from which the suspects were later positively identified, shows the five men inside the snack bar, stealing food, beer, liquor, and money. In total, $198 in merchandise and $405 in cash were reported stolen.
The suspects made entry to the snack bar by breaking and entering through a window. Several beverage coolers and a fire extinguisher inside the snack bar were damaged during the incident, bringing the total amount of damages to an estimated $550.
All suspects remain in custody at the Beaufort County Detention Center awaiting bond hearings. |
