Joseph Holmes

Case Open since 2006.

On 12/20/2006, Joseph Holmes (68-years-old) was shot and killed by two unidentified gunmen at the Sheldon Convenience Store in Northern Beaufort County shortly after 8:00 pm.  An eyewitness to the incident advised two suspects with their faces masked entered the store and indicated it was a hold up.  The witness advised he got up and ran to the rear of the store from the table he and Holmes were sitting at.  The witness indicated there were several shots fired and the suspects fled the store.  When the witness checked on Holmes, it was determined he had been shot.  Holmes was transported via ambulance to the Beaufort Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to a single gunshot wound. 

No suspects have been identified as of this point in the investigation.
