Captain Glenn Zanelotti joined the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office in April 1991 as a Reserve Officer while serving as a Marine stationed at MCAS Beaufort. He left the Marine Corps with an honorable discharge after eight years of service and was hired as a Deputy Sheriff in August 1991.

Zanelotti attended the South Carolina Justice Academy in January 1992. After graduating from the Criminal Justice Academy, he was assigned as a Patrol Officer in the Northern Enforcement. In April of 1993, he transferred to Drug Task Force and worked as a drug investigator for two years. In April 1995, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal and assigned to the Northern Enforcement as an assistant shift supervisor.

Zanelotti was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in February 2001 and took over as shift supervisor of a patrol shift. Zanelotti transferred to the Southern Enforcement in June 2004 to take over as the supervisor of a newly established Bluffton Shift Section and was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant in the same position in May 2005. Zanelotti became the Master Sergeant of the Southern Enforcement in October 2005 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned as the Operations Lieutenant for the Southern Enforcement in January 2006. Zanelotti was promotion to the rank of Captain in March 2014 and assigned as the Recruiting/Staffing officer for the Sheriffs Office.

During his time with the Sheriff's Office, Capt. Zanelotti has also worked several collateral duties which include SWAT Member and K-9 Bloodhound Tracking Team Member. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia 236th Session (2009).
