Lieutenant Angela Viens is a native of Beaufort County.  She was born in Bluffton and has spent most of her life there.  Lieutenant Viens graduated from Hilton Head High School and continued her education at Coker College in Hartsville, SC.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Coker College where she also competed in intercollegiate volleyball.  She graduated in May 1996 and began her career with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office shortly thereafter. 

Lieutenant Viens began her career as a patrol deputy in August 1996.  She was assigned to Southern Enforcement.  She was selected as a field training officer, responsible for training newly hired troops in 1997.   In January 1999, she was promoted to the rank of Corporal and transferred to the Southern Investigations Section.  Lieutenant Viens spent the next 15 years in the Investigations Section, promoting through the ranks to Master Sergeant.   She was selected as Southern Beaufort County’s “Law Enforcement Officer of the Year” by the Hilton Head Island Rotary Club in 2005.

As an Investigator, Lieutenant Viens worked all facets of criminal investigations.  She received training and advanced education in many fields associated with investigations.  As the Master Sergeant over the section, she was responsible for directing and supervising the daily operations of the Southern Investigations Section.  In February 2014, she transferred to the patrol section to broaden her experiences in enforcement.  She was responsible for the daily operations of the Southern Enforcement road patrol, the Special Enforcement Unit and Airport Security.  Viens was promoted in July 2015 to Lieutenant, to serve over the Southern Enforcement Investigations Section.   She is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising and administration of the daily activities of personnel assigned to the Investigations Section.  She provides managerial guidance and oversight for both criminal investigators and victim’s advocates.
