Lieutenant William Angelo was born in Southern New Jersey and moved to Beaufort in 1995, where he was hired as a firefighter with the Beaufort City Fire Department. In October 1998, Angelo was hired as a Deputy Sheriff with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Angelo graduated the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in January 1999 and was assigned as a Patrol Officer in Northern Enforcement. In June 2001, he left the Sheriff's Office to work for the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC as a Police Officer. Angelo returned to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office in August 2003, where he was assigned to the Northern Enforcement as a Patrol Officer. In February of 2005, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to Southern Enforcement as an assistant shift supervisor.

In June 2008, Angelo transferred to the Training Section as the Assistant Training Officer. Angelo was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant in February 2010, in the same position. In March 2014, he was meritoriously promoted to Master Sergeant. Angelo then became the training supervisor in September 2014 when he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, where he is currently assigned.
